Watcher plot
"Evil wants to be seen."
Julia follows her husband to Romania where he has a new job. She herself said goodbye to her acting career, so she has a lot of time on her hands. She soon finds herself being stalked by an unseen voyeur from a nearby building. Meanwhile, a serial killer is cleaning the city.

If you want to listen to half a movie of Romanian posturing, this one is for you. Personally, I found it quite disturbing at one point; it soon became clear that this was happening in Romania. Unfortunately, the build-up is too slow and the plot 'man doesn't believe woman' has been filmed too often. Unfortunately, this film has to have the last 5 (unlikely) minutes, which for me just pulls the whole thing to a sufficient level.

Nice nerve-wracking thriller. He really got under my skin and I thought Gorman was a really terrifying stalker. He was wonderfully cast for that role. The moment he entered her safe terroritorium, I thought it was very intense. That was the moment when everything was based on a misunderstanding and he had no evil intentions.. What I found very strong about this film is the alienation of the unknown city in combination with a constant build-up of tension.
From now on, close the curtains at night!

A slowburner whose greatest asset is the creepy Burn Gorman as watcher. The question is, of course, whether he is the killer. The story is well built with a few moments of tension. Maika Monroe plays her part well and the drab Bucharest location gives it that little bit more of a depressing feeling. 7/10
