Barney is a chemistry teacher who plans to kidnap a woman. Diane is traveling with her boyfriend Jeff and she unknowingly makes herself an easy victim for Barney. Remake of the Dutch film Spoorloos.

Haven't read the book (heard a lot about it) seen both movies.

The Dutch recently, this one when it came out.

Very good, nice to see unbiased (difficult too).

Is not inferior to the original, I think in retrospect, especially because of the fine playing of bridges.

And the end,,, well.

Thrilling thriller, well built towards the end. Jeff Bridges plays his role as a deranged killer very well.

To be honest, I found the original "Spoorloos" a little better and more lively. Set on a busy French toll road, also at a gas station and seemed more "natural" to me.

But this remake is also a nice film to watch and the story is almost synchronous with Spoorloos. And I think that's a shame, couldn't the director have come up with a few nice plots, so that The Vanishing carried something original?
