The Divide plot

"The lucky ones died in the blast"

In this post-apocalyptic thriller, eight residents of a New York apartment complex escape a nuclear attack. They reach the bomb shelter of their paranoid janitor Mickey (Michael Biehn) just in time, but the cramped space quickly turns into a claustrophobic trap. Supplies dwindle and tension mounts as the group loses all hope of rescue. In the struggle for leadership, the men resort to gross psychological and physical violence. When every form of civilization seems to have disappeared, Eva (Lauren German) knows she must act. Seeing that her betrothed is weaker than the other men, she realizes she's on her own to survive this hell…

After Frontière(s) (2007) Gens never came close to this masterpiece of rancidity. This 'the Divide' has seriously disappointed me, this is the 2nd time that I watch this to be able to give a score now, I remembered that it disappointed me then after Frontière(s). What an annoying mess this was to me, Lauren German couldn't save this film either, oh well it's not top of the bill either, soit. It's all rather unbelievable and the film lost my interest fairly quickly, partly due to irritating characters and the uninteresting story, then you quickly just continue watching such a film to be rid of it, you just know it's not going to get better , persistence is a quality e.

Survivors of a nuclear attack hide in a complex overseen by the opportunistic Mickey [Michael Biehn]. The survivors do not know each other and the fear and uncertainty of what is going on outside creates a tense atmosphere in which mistrust and paranoia pave the way for a confrontation in which the law of the strongest seems to apply. The story is not very original and the hyperkinetic editing during some action scenes is disturbing, but the strong cast (including Courtney B. Vance and Rosanna Arquette) keeps this interesting.
