Teen Tyler is a volunteer at the local church and a dutiful son of his father Don, who is himself highly regarded in the community. More than a decade ago, their quiet village was in turmoil when ten women were found tortured and murdered. The perpetrator, who was immediately nicknamed Clovehitch, has still not been arrested to this day. Tyler's life is turned upside down when he finds a series of disturbing images linked to the murders.

Good.
Not a bad thriller at all, which ultimately exceeded my expectations. It's an indie thriller, so special effects or grandiose sets won't really be noticed here. Instead, you get a calm thriller.
Story isn't special, and this movie doesn't do a lot of magic with it. It is mainly the atmosphere and subcutaneous tension that does it for him. And it works very well. Paranoia is clearly palpable, especially in the first part. The first part is also slightly better than the second, where the atmosphere drops every now and then.
Great acting, McDermott is very strong but Plummer can also be mentioned. Sometimes Plummer's acting collapses for a while, but that has more to do with his script, which also falters a bit every now and then, and Plummer can't do much about that.
Tension is okay, drama only works a little better towards the end. Oppressive until the end, now and then something that causes the atmosphere to collapse a bit, but in general it remains palpable. It therefore works better in the cinema than at home for your laptop or TV, so I recommend that you see it while it's still running.
Camera work is otherwise classic, but that doesn't matter much here as the tempo is also slow and calm. But the paranoia nevertheless remains well here, it actually always remains. The film ends very strong, but sometimes also tends a bit too much towards typical teenage mystery.
But still quite sufficient.

It must be your father.
There are some things you just don't want to know or see about your parents , let alone those kinds of disturbing images.
The thriller is otherwise not very special but exciting enough to entertain. The build-up is calm and ends in a nice denouement, the storytelling style with flashbacks keeps it a bit exciting. Dylan McDermott convinces as the ordinary God-fearing scouting man, who has something more going on with it than you might think at first glance, and thus gets pretty scary.
