Luca il Contrabbandiere plot
Luca is a cigarette and liquor smuggler from Naples. Together with his brother, he is quite successful, but one day his brother is ambushed and killed. He is not the only one who gets killed, the big mafia bosses are falling by the wayside. No one knows for sure who is responsible, but Luca does have an idea. Of course Luca takes revenge.

Great film, again from Fulci. It takes a while to get going. After that it is a great old-fashioned gangster film, with gore that only Fulic can bring to life. What more could you want? Lots of gory moments, but especially the facial burning is a new high point in horror.
Fulci is a hero. 4 stars.

As a pulp lover I must of course also try a film Horror cult director Fulci. For the occasion I thought it would be nice to grab a film that does not fall under the horror genre but under the crime genre.
In the hands of Fulci, however, this is a fairly horror-like work that seems to have as its main goal to outdo the Americans with a smaller budget and a higher shock factor. It must be said that Fulci works innovatively and creatively, but the lack of an interesting scenario is still disturbing.
In terms of violence, Fulci is way ahead of its time, but it doesn't make the film much more fun. I watched certain scenes with great amazement, but I kept wondering why all this brutal stuff was actually necessary. I can handle functional violence, but Fulci seems to use it mainly to keep the gore lovers happy.
For the fans there is of course nothing wrong with that. To me, however, this feels like a kind of staged Dick Maas film, but with a much less exciting scenario.
For the fans of Fulci this is definitely a nice movie, but unfortunately I am not part of that target group.
