Hodejegerne plot

"The hunt is on."

Roger is a man who seems to have it all: he is Norway's most successful headhunter, is married to the beautiful gallery owner Diana and lives in a beautiful villa. However, he lives beyond his means. In order to maintain his lifestyle, he steals works of art. At the opening of a new gallery, his wife introduces him to Clas Greve. The latter is not only the perfect candidate for the position of CEO of the GPS company Pathfinder for which he currently works, but also owns a very valuable painting. Roger sees his chance to become financially independent and prepares his biggest battle yet. However, he soon finds himself embroiled in trouble - and it's not financial problems that threaten to kill him this time. The hunt is on.

Like the recently published The Snowman, Hodejegerne is based on a book by Norwegian author Jo Nesbø.

Roger is the recruiter of a large Norwegian company and seems to have everything. To finance his expensive life, he only has to steal art from his clients every now and then. When his wife introduces him to the Dutch-Dane Clas Greve and it turns out that he has a rare Rubens hanging, he has his new goal in mind. However, Greve served in the army with a very advanced special forces unit...

An exciting thriller with the necessary suspense. The design could have been Hitchcock's. Execution is very solid and is also a bit reminiscent of the Scandinavian series, but with a dose of humor. Aksel Hennie - who looked like a sort of Norwegian Christoper Walken - plays a very unsympathetic man in the beginning who, because of all the problems, seems more and more sympathetic. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (who would play Jaime in Game of Thrones) was also good as Greve.

All in all, an enjoyable film to watch.

Amusing Norwegian-made action thriller. Based on a crime book by Nesbo. I had to get into the movie for a while with the double entendres of various characters. In a film, this is often rather fleeting. I assume the book takes more time to explain the plot and motives.

Now, there is not much time to think. Once the first blood splatters, there is no escaping it. A plot involving a fugitive often results in a rollercoaster of successive scenes. Sometimes a bit of pulling at the hair, literally even, but there is enough speed and quality in the film to simply let yourself be carried away. Not really sympathetic characters in the film, but you do empathize a bit with little Roger along the way. Also because he is very good in his role.
