“I see you, but you don't see me.”

A good thriller with an impressive atmosphere. Gloomy, gray, and certainly the bunker and winter conditions provide a perfect thriller atmosphere. Stallone is doing well and Dutton, Patrick and Kristofferson are also doing well. The rest of the cast is less impressive, and the script also falls short. Who the ultimate serial killer is comes as no surprise, and predictable D-Tox certainly is. The last part is quite exciting, but there's nothing that hasn't been done in countless other thrillers before.

Not a top Stallone film, but I didn't think it was bad.

Bit messy.

But for a drizzly Sunday afternoon it's fine

Friendly.

Stallone in a horror movie, as long as it goes well. As an actor he has played quite nice roles and as the best man got older he also started to be a bit more confident and he knows what he was made for. This Eye See You is more in the time when he still had to figure out who he was, but that doesn't necessarily make his performance any less.

What is striking about this film is that it opens early with a fairly nasty scene, especially considering Stallone's wife puts the lottery ticket in a fairly gruesome way within 10 minutes. If you haven't read the description yet, that was surprising, but I went into the film blank and that managed to deliver a nice surprise at times. The film also changes course after 20 minutes.

A film that at first looks like another detective film eventually becomes an atmospheric whodunit film. That produces some very atmospheric pictures and director Gillespie knows how to set up the rehab clinic well. It looks creepy and is also built in a very remote location that is easily good fodder for some tasty horror.

Unfortunately, the film never wants to be optimally exciting, despite the fact that it has quite a few gruesome scenes. Overall, the movie just makes too much noise. The soundtrack is too thick on top of it and the film has a little too much tempo to be really subtly exciting, often the kind of tension that is important in these kinds of films.

Stallone does a nice job and the reveal is surprising, but as a whole it is the entertainment that keeps this film going. Both the tension and the mystery aspect itself could have been worked out better, the messy course is what stops the film from getting good. Other than that, pretty nice.
