Calibre plot

"You can't bury the truth"

Vaughn, soon to be a father, is finally out with his childhood friend Marcus. They go hunting for a weekend in a small and remote village in the Scottish highlands. After the first night of heavy drinking with the villagers, the couple sets out early into the woods. It's a foggy autumn morning when disaster strikes.

The hunter becomes the hunted

Caliber is of the caliber (couldn't resist ) nice looking away thriller, no more, no less. I entered this without any prior knowledge, so I didn't know what to expect to keep the surprise effect as optimal as possible in this way. Once the bomb explodes, the seasoned thriller fanatic won't see a set-up that he hasn't seen better elsewhere, but the way the story develops is never boring and remains entertaining enough.

In summary, this means that the acting is good enough, the tension is built up enough and there are a number of oppressive scenes, although there was never a scene that really had a deep impact on me. Even the scene where Vaugh had to shoot Marcus to survive on his own left me untouched what I think has to do with it because of the predictable route the story takes from the moment the accident happened.

If you're in the mood for a run-of-the-mill thriller that you can watch with your mind at zero, Caliber is a safe bet that won't disappoint. Although not a high-flyer, these kinds of films are sometimes more than welcome, provided you go into them with minimal expectations.

Nice (Netflix) surprise! The story is so realistically presented and acted that as a viewer you can do nothing but sympathize with the 2 friends and the situations they end up in. The tension is built up in a calm but very effective way and the acting level is also excellent.

So far (1 of) the very best Netflix movies I've watched, I'd like more of these high-quality film projects.

Exciting.

Before normal life should really start (having a baby, for example), two old friends decide to go out one more time in the Scottish Highlands as usual. The goal: to hunt. They arrive late at night in a small village and find refuge in the pub, only to discover that they live among capricious people who are both pleasant and grisly. Then, while the hangover is still disappearing, they head out into the woods and Vaughn is ready to fire the first shot of his life. However, this first shot spells fate for the rest of his life.

Where Vaughn is still driven by his conscience, Marcus is a bit more light-hearted about it. But it is inevitable that the secret does start to leak to the local villagers, some of whom still have a bone to pick with the boys because they let some local ladies cheat.

And the movie starts to get more and more exciting. You know that these two friends have committed a gigantic crime...or, a fatal accident a crime, but you still feel sympathy for these people. You know, of course, what will happen to your precious life when it comes to light, so you'd better cover it up, forgive yourself, and never return to the community.

However... The villagers leave Vaughn to that choice, but with Marcus as the bet. strong!

The final shot in particular is one to remember.

Caliber is a great thriller. Dark, threatening and at times oppressive. Both the friends and the locals know how to put down a strong acting performance here. Strong Netflix production.
