Surprising guess.

I'm not familiar with the original Hitchcock classic yet, but I just assumed it looked like an entertaining movie with three good protagonists. I got just a little more than I originally hoped for. This is immediately what makes this an interesting film: the unpredictability. Director Andrew Davis also used that in the slightly more exciting The Fugitive if I remember correctly. First, , I thought the murder would just go according to plan, and then David and Steven would have a conflict. I also indicate, for example, the moment that David turns out not to be the robber or that the tape still turns up in one way or another. Nothing is what it seems. There are many things that did not go as I expected.

Good to see that the focus is on the relationships between the three characters themselves. Michael Douglas, Gwyneth Paltrow and Viggo Mortensen play their roles with conviction. So in that respect everything was in order. Nevertheless, this is not one of those films that will stay with me for long if I don't see it again. It's all fun, but a few days after I've seen the film, a lot has already been forgotten. I didn't expect certain things; something that is always positive for a thriller, but I didn't really experience any (underneath) tension either. Certainly nice to have seen and the plot twists make it nice as a whole, but otherwise it is not a high flyer.

Sometimes you wish certain actors would never grow old and could forever continue to play the roles they excel at.

Michael Douglas, what a charisma this man has, very pleasant to watch. He is truly one of the best actors out there in this genre!

The whole cast in this movie is good, Gwyneth Paltrow is a good actress and Viggo Mortensen is also a great actor (although he will always be Aragorn after LOTR).

A film almost 25 years old that sucks you into the story.

Even when you have only vaguely remembered the main points after a while, it is still worth looking again!

This is also a thriller how a thriller should be: a very good structure, a lot of tension, perfectly dosed film music under the scenes, a lot of changes in the situation and several plot twists.

This in combination with great acting makes it a great movie!

(To each their own, but very surprising that this film is generally only rated "average" at 3.3*...)

Average.

A Perfect Murder is above all a perfect example of the '90s thriller. Very cliché, both in look and construction. With Michael Douglas as lead, the most obvious casting has also been done for this type of film. That guy, as meticulous as he is, seems to have barely done anything but thrillers during the 80s and 90s.

I don't like Gwyneth Paltrow and Viggo Mortensen. Paltrow is too much of a dull pigeon. I don't see a trophy wife (or something similar) for a moment. Mortensen is mainly the victim of a predictable script. But predictable or not; I don't think it matters much in my final rating.
