ew.

Read that this is a re-film of an older book, that doesn't surprise me in retrospect. The rather clumsy depictions of the various futures no longer really fit in a post-2000 film, it is really all a bit too simplistic for that.

Funny to read that people used to give the film some credit because of the special effects, which are now worth nothing. Only the setting in the beginning is still nicely designed. It's a shame, then, that the film moves from the past to the future. A sci-fi movie where you have to say that doesn't do something right anyway.

It's actually more fantasy than sci-fi. In the end, it reminded me more of a movie like Labyrinth or something, especially with those grandiose silly creatures at the end. Poor Jeremy Irons. The rest of the cast is poor, by the way. Samantha Mumba (chuckle) who tries to build an acting career and Guy Pearce as a lame hero find it difficult to bear the film.

Apart from the beginning, which is actually quite atmospheric, this film has very little to offer. Outdated and ugly effects, clumsy progress and poor acting. One to quickly forget.

Entertaining movie. I am unfamiliar with both the book and the original from the 1960s. However, this film has piqued my interest. Time travel is always a subject that appeals to me. The acting is decent and the special effect and music are well done.

What prevents me from giving a really high score is the too high pace and the somewhat mediocre elaboration of the story. I would have appreciated a little more explanation/background about, for example, the Elois and the Morlock. In addition, in the second half of the film, the main character's motives and what time travel does to him remain underexposed.

The Time Machine is a film that potentially has more to it than this version actually shows. A colorful story that flies by at a fast pace, but where the elaboration of the story is somewhat disappointing. Because in itself the Morlocks were interesting characters, but some extra information about them wouldn't have hurt the film. The way the Morlocks appear and disappear is cool, but unfortunately the Morlocks themselves look pretty lousy. The special effects are also quite mediocre. In terms of cast, it was also not much, Pearce is disappointing as the scientist, Irons has too few possibilities in the script to actually put down a performance and Mumba can't act too well.
