Because the movie came on TV anyway, just recorded it and saw it last night, so this is a movie I won't be seeing again anytime soon, the thirteen in a dozen story, it's all been done before and better, the shameless stealing from other movies, gave me the idea that there is probably an attempt to set up a series such as Resident Evil, that is what the film is most like in my eyes. But comparisons with other films can also be made sufficiently. The film never rises above mediocrity and the acting performances don't stop there. Special effects can go through with it, but in that area too it is all mediocre. This is now a film that you should watch on a small screen on a rainy day on holiday in the Netherlands in the caravan. It's not bad, but bottom end mediocre.

“Great, we're all bloody inspired.”

Great first part. The Maze Runner has an intriguing premise, and director Wes Ball also manages to make it an entertaining film with some strong action scenes. It is clear which target group the film is aimed at, but older viewers can also enjoy this.

The strongest point of the film is that as a viewer you know just as little as Thomas, and that makes it an interesting viewing experience. O'Brien is a strong lead and the other actors are decent. The film has its lesser moments, but certainly when Teresa (Kaya Scodelario) appears, the brewery comes back to life. And the scenes in the maze are strong anyway. All in all, this is a successful start to a new Young Adult franchise.

A group of boys survive in “The Glade” where Alby [Aml Ameen] initially holds sway. The arrival of a newcomer [Dylan O'Brien] causes renewed anxiety, especially when this newcomer begins to realize where he has ended up and what his own role is in it. And then the boys are also startled by the arrival of Teresa [Kaya Scodelario] and the message that she will be “the last”. That makes it clear that it is high time to try to escape without being killed by the Grievers who are blocking the only way to another place. One of the better futuristic teen films of the period with a captivating central mystery and especially good acting from Will Poulter as the inflammatory Gally and Thomas Brodie-Sangster as the reluctant Newt. First part of a trilogy. Next up: The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials.
