After watching trailers one and two, I was looking forward to The Matrix Resurrections.
As shown in the trailers, Resurrections is a kind of 'Matrix meets the Resurrections'. Together with the proven permanent crew in the person of Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, a lot is possible. The perfect opportunity to make something really beautiful out of it.

With an emphasis on possible. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss have already proven themselves.
The film script of the fourth part, on the other hand, is wafer-thin and unpolished. It is more like a film documentary with 'in film cutscene' behind the scenes. What 'The Matrix' is possible and how the Matrix could have come about. A kind of third person re-experiencing of the Matrix. (From another Matrix).

The first Matrix movie was sublime. The second and third parts are entertaining.
I come to the conclusion that the first film is a lucky shot. This current fourth film is, in my opinion, completely unnecessary. Much talk but little news. I've watched this movie twice and it makes me feel like Warner Bros. studios thinks it's time for a new Matrix trilogy and the Wachowskis spinning regardless of 'who, what, where, why' we do.

Graphically inspiring at times, but not a solid story for a moment, except for small bright spots. I continue to miss Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith) and Laurence Fishburne (Morpheus). A great loss even since both gentlemen previously played a strong role.
In addition to the story, the film lacks a few extra powerful characters.
I would never have approved this production as a film producer.
The open ending is a start for a sequel. A sequel that I will not blindly watch.
Sorry, but I don't think it's recommended.

Embarrassing movie.

From a group of bad guys who just ran away from Spielberg are Hook, machines that are now like pets, extremely bad acting by Reeves, dialogue that seems written by a 10-year-old, story that always shows shots from the original Matrix. It was like a TV series. The move is laughably outdated. That female bird standing in the woods like we've landed in Lord of the Rings. Nothing but nothing works. With spider-man I can still imagine that the fans are happy, but here it is just painfully uninspired.

1.5*

Bah. A caricatural reboot, with excessive use of old images and situations from the past. The score and various camera shots have been shamelessly copied from previous parts. In addition, Resurrections largely consists of muddled bilateral conversations that are not at all fascinating or enlightening. Terrible screenplay and script. Would Reeves have realized he was on set?

You see that almost 200 mil budget was available, all the more a shame to deliver such a monstrosity. It sometimes seems like a satire of the great first part. Wachowski apparently not only doubted her own identity, but has also turned his firstborn son into a freak show.
