Pleasant sequel to the series. It looks a bit slicker, which is fine in terms of flight scenes, but does not necessarily benefit the overall feeling. For example, I would have appreciated more grimy on the planets. In terms of story, it makes sense that they went for the subplot around River, this is by far the most interesting line in the 14-part series. After a mixed first part, the film Serenity only really gets off the ground after the Reaver attack. The action-packed denouement and the bond I already felt with the characters lifts the whole thing up to three stars.

SF movie that apparently is a sequel to a Firefly series. Never heard of it. When I saw this film I recognized some scenes, which made it clear that I had already seen this film at its release date somewhere shortly after 2005. Must be about 14 years ago. I don't remember anything about the story, which says enough about the impression this film left on me at the time. Story ok, but tries to create a bit of universe / atmosphere of Star Wars on various planets, but it is all a bit too well-behaved and simpler for that. Will be on budget. Can also be seen in CGI. Everything is beautiful but you can see that it is not real. You don't have that feeling with Star Wars. Also reminded me of Guardians of the Galaxy, where the story also plays around and in a 'cargo spaceship', but in Guardians of the Galaxy everything is much more colorful. This movie also tries to take itself way too seriously. A little more humor would have made the film much better. The role of protagonist Nathan Fillion as captain is therefore a faint decoction of Harrison Ford as Han Solo in Star Wars... But apart from these comparisons, the film is quite easy to watch. Just expected a bit more atmosphere, I was a bit hungry. As a Star Wars fan I may have become a bit too demanding...

A sequel to the Firefly series. Heard of it, but never seen it. And if that's the level of the movie, maybe it's a good thing. I think the makers of the film mainly live on the series. I don't want you to explain everything again in a movie, but now you're dealing with a lot of characters who are probably better known to Firefly fans and are now somewhat reduced to fringe characters.

Serenity is a mix between Star Wars and Indiana Jones, with the appearance of a parody or a B-movie. Malcolm is such a typical macho figure who looks especially good with himself. A difference with similar roles of eg Harrison Ford in Star Wars or Indiana Jones and even Brendan Fraser in The Mummy. You don't have much sympathy for Malcolm. The young River is still the nicest character, but little is done with it. She can show some things, but they seem like talents that just happen to come in handy. Chiwetel Ejiofor is also not too bad. One of the better actors in this movie.

Maybe the series has a little more charm, but here it really feels like a cheesy dated movie.
