Great movie. Sometimes a bit too corny perhaps, but also weird enough to be able to overlook that.

Basically you follow two groups of aliens, the good and the bad, who are at war with each other. They take on human forms and live on Earth, where they prepare for their battle. Or maybe they fight their battle here on Earth, it doesn't really matter. It's a lot of humor and weirdness and absurdity, but at the same time the film is quite slow and calming, which I thought was a nice combination.

I don't know Dumont's work very well, but the similarities with Jeannette, l'Enfance de Jeanne d'Arc were clear. That is also a kind of heroic epic with crazy elements in a barren landscape. Only the metal nuns were missing here.

I understood that this film is partly a parody of Star Trek or Star Wars. I have never seen that and I don't plan to. You might get more out of it if you know the parodied. I didn't feel like I was missing anything. I felt like Dumont was making fun of it a bit, but at the same time it was an homage. A kind of teasing out of love, something like that.
