A bit strange SF film, in itself the basic idea is good, but how the whole is worked out raises questions in my mind, has this all not been shown before, has it been deliberately borrowed from other films/genres? or is this just a side effect.

Still, it's not a bad film, what I actually really like is the fact that when action occurs, there are no immediate victims. In the beginning I had some trouble with the main character, the office slime dress who is forced amicable to his employees, and doesn't really know how to do things. However, during the film he does develop, he remains an egoist, but sees that his own kind are even bigger...... than the aliens.

I actually enjoyed myself with this film, it is not a high flyer, for that the story, especially the early days, is elaborated too briefly and the story actually starts directly with the eviction. But the movie is definitely enjoyable and I like the movie better than others in this genre.

Sometimes you start a movie of “We'll see”... that's how I started this movie. I was surprised with a good movie. Very cool!

District 9 has everything to be an excellent movie. In the first place with his clever screenplay and metaphorical approach. Just like for example Avatar, humanity comes off pretty badly. Influential multinationals determine the laws and regulations and do not shy away from violence to make this enforceable. And it may not be a coincidence that Johannesburg serves as the location for the film.

The underlying intentions of Blomkamp are manifold. On the one hand, the link between prawns and contemporary refugees is quickly established. Amazing how people can react to something they can't understand or explain. Fear that drives terror and inhumane treatment is probably in our DNA. But if the link is not made with refugees, you can just as well put Apartheid forward ... The character Wikus also occupies a metaphorical role as the helpless individual who has to fight against an unleashed media and government apparatus. Whoever needs to be crushed is a bug and nothing else...

The action scenes that dominate especially towards the end are quite spectacular, but of a lower quality. Bit blockbuster at the time, but quite entertaining. I'll take the exaggerated demonization of Wikus with it. Nice story style also from a media point of view as you can see in eg Starship troopers or Total recall. Surprisingly good, beautiful!
