Remarkable video.

Jane makes a comic strip film of it, but without a comic strip. In itself he succeeds in that intention, but in the finishing there is still quite a bit lacking.

The acting is just bad for example. The voice overs are stupid (a bit too much like Sin City - it was nothing there either) and the soundtrack is at times really hilariously bad. It was clear what Jane was trying to do, but it didn't really work.

Visually quite captivating, although certainly not perfect. The CG was not at all great at times, but the visual style gives the film a clear character. The story was otherwise fairly typical, few surprises and the twist at the end was already seen halfway through the film.

I certainly didn't think it was bad, but it could have been (and should have been) much better. There just aren't enough of these kinds of movies to make it so sloppy. A bit of a missed opportunity, but otherwise different and amusing.

Given the very low average, I expected absolutely nothing from this film, but in the end it was a pleasant surprise. I definitely liked the plot and the mysterious atmosphere, although that cannot be said of the cinematography. It seemed rather amateurish to me. The acting was also not exactly your thing and as for the soundtrack; well, when I hear Beethoven's ninth, I would be fooling myself if I, like Onderhond, found the soundtrack hilariously bad. I thought the score as a whole was just reasonable, no more and no less.

Great film if you like film noir and Twilight Zone. The photography and direction are spot on, with all the visual stylistic devices and substantive themes of classic noir (the slats as bars, low angle shots, the involved femme fatale, existential fear, fatalism, ...). Still a great feat by Thomas Jane to take on the direction in addition to the leading role. It is also a film that was realized with minimal resources. We see a chamber play, albeit in and around Thomas Jane's car, with good dialogues, suspense and memorable scenes. The night rarely seemed so dark. Small topper.
