Kelly and Sinatra.

Very similar to On The Town, and that's not just because of the same lead actors. I have only seen a few of Kelly's films in the meantime, but I already know more or less what to expect.

Again very light, very smooth and without any seriousness. Even the more dramatic pieces never give the feeling that things might not end well. Which is more of a compliment, a film like this doesn't need any dramatic developments.

It's a shame that there's always a song that has absolutely nothing to do with it. That bit about Kelly's hat is completely unnecessary. Furthermore, the music doesn't do anything for me, most of the dances are a bit bland (except for that one Kelly-only tap dance scene) and it lasts half an hour too long for me.

This invariably results in a low score, but the jolly atmosphere always provides a few laughs.

In my opinion, not as fun as On The Town, Sinatra's role was clearly something different and Gene Kelly plays his role with full conviction, you would almost think he was the same in real life?

Esther Williams is a nice addition! Not that popular on set (from what I've read) but clearly welcomed in this little story.

Not super good, but no waste of time either. Films like this always exude a wonderful atmosphere.

a more than entertaining romantic comedy and musical in which Sinatra and Kelly enjoy themselves with song and dance shows outside the baseball season.

When the new baseball season starts again, they rush to their club.

Once there, they hear that a new owner has taken over their club.

The new owner turns out to be a landlady and both Kelly and Sinatra fall in love with her, which of course causes problems.

The film is smooth and funny and the female beauty in the form of Esther Williams as Kc Higgins, the new owner, is well cast.

Meanwhile, Sinatra is being chased by Betty Garrett's character.

Sinatra is still very young here and plays a much less tough role than in his later films.
