"Silence can be killer"
A young woman lost her hearing when she was a teenager. She now lives in a secluded house and is secluded in her silent world. One day a masked face appears at the window. It turns out to be that of a psychotic killer. The woman will have to push herself beyond her mental and physical limits to survive the night.

Wonderful movie.
With the exception that the main character is deaf, this "home invasion" thriller is not very original of course. That doesn't matter at all. It's about what is done with it. And Flanagan makes effective use of this. He knows how to create so much tension here and keeps that tension throughout the film. Hush never gives you a moment of rest and the tension is so tight that it is sometimes unbearable. The fact that Maddie is deaf and can no longer use her vocal cords certainly helps. You're really into it. The whole stalking is very finely worked out and the film has some gory moments. But where many a film loses sight of the story a bit, Flanagan never does that in Hush and keeps the survival aspect alive throughout the film.
Acting is very nice to watch. Especially Kate Siegel, also co-writer, does a fantastic job. But also Gallagher Jr. does it very convincingly. Flanagan shows a strong piece of directing, sound design is beautifully designed and very important here, strong camera work and lighting and the score is also well taken care of.
Very good on the edge of your seat thriller.

Strong thriller!
From beginning to end, a strong tension is created that is fortunately also maintained until the end.
The simple story is executed with the utmost skill. Flanagan makes some very strong choices because all of them can be accomplished. Add to that a great Siegel who plays her part very well.
