Kate Bowman is an ordinary social worker who investigates the mysterious deaths of people who die in their sleep. Her sister Beth also died this way. Shortly before their deaths, the victims all report a supernatural power appearing while they sleep. When Kate investigates further, she opens herself up to the creature, soon confronting her and her family with an ancient evil.
