The Arrow Blu-ray is an absolute must for fans of this kind of delicious B-pulp. Beautiful restoration and extensive extras.

Less than expected and hoped. I am quite fond of the 80's slasher genre. This later is just a bit too much formula work. Completely worthless, no, there is an unexpected twist and the fact that we suddenly encounter the first PCs here is also quite funny. But a lot of attention is paid to the daily concerns of our main characters and a little too little for the killer.

A kind of Slasher/Giallo hybrid. Edge of the Ax is a film that I had high expectations for in advance. It is a film with two faces, but at the end of the day it is still a minor inadequacy on my part.

About those 2 faces: Everything about horror. The slashings... It's excellent. Excellent atmosphere and tension building, a terrifying killer and good kills. No huge gory slashings, but brutal and bloody enough.

But then the other side... Everything outside of the slashings. Christ, that's really shitty. Made in Spain, but between the kills we don't get any of the Euro sleaze that you as a viewer crave. You get a very dusty, American interpretation. The characters are not interesting at all, and everything is bizarrely sweet, solid and safe. Totally uninteresting.

Incomprehensible. Seems to have been made by 2 different makers. But apparently Larraz has mastered the horror part, but everything around it is messed up.
