A Wounded Fawn plot

Art broker Bruce is a dream. Rugged and handsome, extremely learned, an excellent cook and the owner of a modern property in a conveniently located wooded property. Bruce is also a deranged serial killer who hates women, emboldened by a series of horrific demons. Museum curator Meredith struggles to leave the wreckage of an abusive relationship behind when she makes the fateful decision to accept Bruce's invitation for a romantic weekend away. Though initially dismayed, flashes of Bruce's dark side excite her intuition more and more. Meredith realizes she may be trapped in a violent killer's home and tries to escape.

Let's start by saying that this movie is not for everyone.

I really liked the practical fx and the cinematography of this movie. It's an uncomplicated but very unconventional story about a serial killer whose victims manifest themselves as a kind of Greco-Roman demons in the serial killer's crazed and damaged mind.

It was maybe a little too much art house. But that doesn't mean I don't like the film. An absolute must if you like these kinds of movies. The director has a lot of potential and that is reflected in his way of directing, the choices of the actors, shot choice and style.

After an auction, Bruce [Josh Ruben] kills the woman [Malin Barr] who trumped him. Scary time later Meredith [Sarah Lind] has had a 3-year relationship with a bad ending and she goes away for a romantic weekend with… you guessed it. Bruce is controlled by some sort of demon (with a hilarious appearance ), but it turns out Meredith can't be caught for one hole. As the cat-and-mouse game between Bruce and Meredith unfolds, Bruce increasingly loses his grip on what's left of reality. A not bad basic fact that, however, has not been elaborated sufficiently and ineffectively. More bizarre than terrifying.

It all started promisingly, but halfway through the ride the atmosphere completely changed. Typically, it is common for some horror films to mislead you and keep you guessing between fiction and reality. It also became clear to me that it was more arthouse oriented. The acting was mediocre at certain times. The soundtrack could also use some attention. Visually it is attractive, but not enough for an entertaining film.

1.5 *
