The unhappy Clarence lives in Jerusalem. When there is more global interest in the messiah and his influence, Clarence sees this as an opportunity to get rich from it. When he explores faith further, he unexpectedly takes a different path.

It doesn't look bad and the cast performs quite well, but unfortunately this comedy is not as funny as I had hoped. This could have been (and should have been) much more hilarious, but there was nothing more than a single smile. Shame.

Jerusalem, 33 AD: Clarence [LaKeith Stanfield] is the twin brother of the apostle Thomas [LaKeith Stanfield] and searches for meaning. He offers himself to Jesus [Nicholas Pinnock] as the thirteenth apostle, but because of his poor reputation his request is rejected. He then proclaims that he himself is the Messiah. He finds a loyal follower in the extremely strong Barabbas “The Invincible” [Omar Sy], but runs into trouble when Pontius Pilate [James McAvoy] proclaims to do away with every self-proclaimed Messiah. A strong (predominantly black) cast is wasted in this half-baked, toothless satire that cannot at all match Life Of Brian.
