The Damned plot
In the winter of 1862, the Civil War was in full swing. The United States sends a group of volunteer soldiers to the western areas. They have been given the task of patrolling the unknown borderlands. Gradually their mission takes a different turn.

Just when you think the Cannes Film Festival can't sink any lower, they award Roberto Minervini the Best Director Award for this utterly amateurish piece of junk in which a handful of Union soldiers hang around a campfire during the American Civil War and, out of sheer boredom (the only emotion the viewer can identify with par excellence), talk without any emotion about the (non)sense of war and religion in superficial, uninteresting and (therefore) utterly useless dialogues. After half an hour, a glimmer of hope appears in the form of a skirmish, but it is short-lived and nothing else happens. The only 'cursed' is the viewer who forces himself to sit through this.
