Nice film in which a man comes to work for a married couple and falls in love with the woman. A good story with enough plot developments, but it goes on a bit too long. The characters are well developed, but the casting of Lana Turner is not entirely believable. On the other hand, there is clearly an attraction between her and John Garfield.

I am a fan of the raw acting style of Garfiel and Turner, I also think it is one of the more convincing femmes fatales. Supplement that with an entertaining Kalloway and you have 3 okay protagonists in a story that also doesn't go beyond that trio (in terms of murder plots and such). I prefer noirs with a simple, straightforward plot, although I have to admit that the film sometimes struggles to keep it interesting. Nevertheless, I did appreciate the ending, with the accompanying surprises, and it's just a solid film.

The Postman Always Rings Twice contains many typical film noir elements but, despite a handful of clichés, also has quite a few surprising plot twists.

In the beginning, the film is about a young woman (Cora) who, with the help of her secret love (Frank), concocts a plan to kill her husband. Although this initially seems like an average film noir plot, the story then goes in different directions. For example, a large part of the film is set in a court, where a smart lawyer steals the show for a while, after which the focus is mainly on corruption and blackmail. Ultimately, it all revolves around the relationship of trust and the associated rising tensions between Cora and Frank. The first half of the film had my full attention but unfortunately this subsided a bit as the story progressed and it all took a bit too long in the end. Still, this is just a really nice film noir that is quite entertaining.
