Mountain Woman plot

Rin is despised by her village community, as a member of a family of outcasts in rural northern Japan in the late 18th century. One day her hungry father steals some rice. She takes the blame and is then driven from the village onto Mount Hayachine, where the spirits of the dead are said to ascend.
