A light-hearted road movie that does not contain too much content (and literally). Nice atmospheric images, a bit of nostalgic holiday feeling that is evoked by the life motto Yolo and carpe diem!

Love and sexuality are expressed with the necessary freshness and spontaneity. The lightness disappears at the end and comes very unexpectedly. But just like with the boys, I experience the same thing as a viewer: bad, but life just goes on, simply because there is too little feeling with the film, with the characters.

Except for the exaggerated adolescent oversexed behavior of the youngsters, there is little depth of character of the 2 boys. The film gets stuck too much in the sometimes flat discourse around 'decorating' girls and boasting of one's own achievements. Not a bad film, but within the genre there are other references.

Not as good as I'd hoped though. This is mainly due to the story, in the beginning you get all kinds of complicated information which does not matter at all for the entire film. That keeps me from getting sucked into it too much.

There really isn't a story. 2 teenagers go on a trip with a woman of about 30 and all conversations are about sex. I got tired of those conversations in particular, I would have preferred a little more story. The sex scenes were well done, clearly not a Hollywood movie, not too good and believable, not too romantic.

There was also good acting and the last 3 minutes the film turned out to have more content than expected.

Nice to have seen, but not a great one

Cuaron.

Had high hopes for this movie, especially since Cuarón can come up with great things as a director. Within his profession an absolute craftsman who is able to realize great stylizations in which emotion and experience are wonderfully mixed. This film is an earlier project of his, and it was actually disappointing.

The main problem I have with this film is that I never found the characters to have their own faces. Despite the development, Cuarón gives them little room to be a person of flesh and blood. Rather, I got the feeling I was watching dumb teenagers who make almost no progress through the film. I don't notice any development at all, especially escalation that is eventually resolved in a cumbersome way.

Beautiful images of nature and a nice atmosphere setting, that is. Cuarón was able to hold its own with the presentation even then and travels to enough locations and places to get a nice feeling of variety. Other than that, it's all good to follow for once. I just didn't think it was very special, more like a snapshot of the fun adventure with the boys & their secret lover. I don't need to say more about it, really. Nice to do, but don't need to see it again.
