Uwasa no Onna plot

Hatsuko Umabuchi is a widow who runs a thriving geisha house in Kyoto. Her daughter Yukiko returns from Tokyo after her boyfriend left her and she attempted suicide. Hatsuko has a secret affair with the doctor who treats the geishas and the doctor now also falls for her daughter. Yukiko, however, must have absolutely nothing to do with the geisha house and those in it.
