What you would call an art house film, a somewhat heavier subject with a light tone, solid imagery and nothing exciting or special and thus simply called boring. Also not a film that I had in mind, but since Close is nominated for the Oscars, it is such a film that I would like to see. But full of typical people. Halfway through, people complain about clichés in novels, but the whole film is bursting with them, that annoying son in the front, but we also know that annoying journalist on the side. Acting was also not very noticeable, at least: you always saw people acting. Not for a moment did I have the idea of looking at people, but always at actors. Close is still the most human and stands out positively in that respect, but that something like this can already be worth a statue? Visually dull. All in all, it's really not bad, but there's no cracking or taste to it anymore. Besides that maybe there is a lot of interesting in the film, but they focus on the wrong things. I think the man was actually more interesting than the woman in this regard. Don't expect an in-depth character study either, the average 50+ person on a girlfriend's night should also be able to digest this video.

Well, the story isn't surprising. The most startling thing is that from second 1 it is clear how the fork is in the stem (and I hadn't read a plot or anything). Although you can hear the noise in the hall halfway through, this came as a surprise to many. Strange, because the only thing that kept me from being sure was that it was so thick it must almost be a deception. Not so. Fortunately, this also comes out about two-thirds of the way through the film and the tone changes slightly, making the film a bit more enjoyable to watch. But then it is already much too late. And to end with a cliché heart attack, then it really ends. 1.5*.

I've got Glenn Close in high esteem. Super actress. However, I do understand that she did not receive an Oscar for this role. That depends more on the script than on herself. Glenn 'splashes' from the canvas, but somehow not enough. Sometimes I couldn't empathize with her character so well, that she suddenly finds it difficult that her husband gets all the attention. She has sacrificed everything all her life and that has been her own choice. I can't tell and substantiate too much, because then I betray too much of the story.

So just watch, because it is and remains a fascinating film. Well played and beautiful hotel, where they spend a lot of time in Stockholm.

Looks very nice and reminded me especially of the film adaptation of a literary short story. That's a novel, apparently. There are certainly some unbelievable pieces here and there, but I think they remain functional for the whole.
