It is well known that the UN is a criminal organization. Look what we've been up to not only in the Balkans, but also in Libya and other countries... The UN is far too powerful and can get away with everything. The film concludes by stating that nothing has changed.

The true story of Kathryn Bolkovac [Rachel Weisz], an American police officer who started work as a UN monitor in Bosnia in 1999. She is shocked by the way women are treated there, but she finds no response from her colleagues who dismiss it as a cultural difference that the UN cannot do anything about. When Kathryn discovers a network of female slave trades, she encounters another wall of resistance among her colleagues. It soon becomes clear why, and Kathryn must determine whether she is willing to risk her reputation and perhaps her life to reveal the truth. She can only count on the help of human rights activists Madeleine Rees [Vanessa Redgrave] and Peter. Ward [David Strathairn]. Strong acting by Weisz and Kondracki's documentary-style direction are pluses, but the lack of a strong, charismatic villain prevents this from getting really exciting.
