The Waterdance plot
"Sometimes, life happens by accident."
Novelist Garcia fell off a rock and broke his neck. When he regains consciousness, he is informed that he is paralyzed for life. At first he doesn't take it too seriously, but when he is transferred to the rehabilitation department of the hospital, his optimism is put to the test. There he meets Bloss and Raymond. Bloss is a disorderly, racist motorcyclist who is involved in a lawsuit with the man he believes responsible for his accident. Raymond is a black talker whose marriage is on the rocks. Despite adversity, misery, misunderstanding, depression and demoralism, the vastly different men grow closer.
