I wasn't that impressed with this. When you make a shark movie (especially after the trend that Jaws has created) you can assume that the viewer knows something about sharks. And in that respect, this film is a firecracker of realism. Why does the shark eat three people in a row and spend all his time chasing this lady? He can't be that hungry, can he? Besides, why doesn't he eat from the dead whale? Why is the shark so patient? He hangs around the same place for two days concentrated on a single piece of (lean) human flesh, then you are an underdeveloped predator, I think. Why doesn't the shark swim away when shot at? (should we really believe that this animal has vengeful emotions?) and then there remains the question of how it is possible that this lady survives so long without water (salt water is not really drinkable). It was also true that I was involved in all this stuff because of the slow pace (what the hell am I supposed to do with those first 20 minutes? Getting emotionally interested in her 25-year-deceased mother?), the tedious editing (a new shot doesn't really say anything else but there is clipped to give the illusion of tempo) and few creative kills. I was really sad about it all.

Never go by mediocre numbers. this movie is pretty good. the story doesn't have to be complicated or full of dialogue to be good.

take a hot chick (Blake Lively) who is lovely to watch in a bikini and a shark against which she must devise a plan to get off a rock after an attack injured in her leg as long as the water rises. exciting isn't it...

what I also liked is that as long as she sat on the rock she was accompanied by a seagull who was also injured and took care of the animal. I would like to see this movie again in a year and a half.
