The Man Who Came Back plot

All hell breaks loose when former slaves go on strike on Judge Duke's plantation. The law, in the form of Amos and Ezra, has Duke in his pocket. Reese Paxton, a white landowner, sided with the slaves and a chain of events ensued, forcing Paxton to leave his family and go to jail, leaving the slaves at the whim of Ezra's gang. Many are killed, including Paxton's wife and son. When the latter is released, he wants quick revenge and now he gets the help of the former slaves.
