The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner plot
Colin Smith is a juvenile delinquent who is caught during a robbery. He is sent to Borstal, a youth institution. His name quickly arises there because he has an enormous talent for running. The director of the institution also notices this and wants to win a running race with Colin against a rival reform school. During his long training sessions, Colin gets the opportunity to think deeply about his life.
