"Cheating death is only the beginning"
Ben Newman (Paul Walker) is a criminal trying to get back on track. However, his younger brother persuades him to commit one last heist. With disastrous results: one person is killed, Ben is convicted and then has to wait on death row for his execution. After the execution, however, Ben finds himself back as a handyman in a psychiatric clinic. Ben is very confused: how did he get there after his execution? When told that he has been given a second chance from God, Ben tries to cope with his new destiny - living without his family. Soon, however, strange things begin to happen in his environment. Is he being shadowed? Or is this a dream?

Below average, the data is quite nice but is really poorly developed. Shutter Island seems to have really taken inspiration from this as many before me have pointed out.
Paul Walker doesn't manage to carry the film and the rest of the cast doesn't impress either. The film had a hard time keeping my attention anyway and the many clichés do not help. Furthermore, boring directing so there is little left for a good score.
No, you can find much better films in this genre, for example.....indeed....a Shutter Island.

A difficult sitting. The beginning is something you've seen 100 times, but going forward, you have to make a starting point. For now only standard (family) drama. After that, they do their best to make it exciting and mysterious, but it doesn't really work. Maybe it's the annoying acting, or it's a bit too forced with the scares, rain, fog and noise. I had great difficulty sustaining attention and it dragged on; the only gripe you have is that you know there's going to be another twist and you can only hope it's great. That attempt is not bad in itself, with the double bottom of imagined vs not imagined after all (but well, we've also seen that before, and better, with Shutter Island) and I can still remember the story behind prunes (you could even say it's profound, but it lacks effect), but it's far too little to save the film. The tension is wrong and there are too many mistakes. Moreover, the last minutes are completely cliche cunt.
