Agustin Rejas is an idealistic ex-lawyer whose sense of justice made him decide to become a police officer. He was tasked by his bosses to lead a team to track down a charismatic Marxist terrorist leader. His quest has lasted more than 12 years and eventually leads him to a meeting with the dance teacher Yolanda, a meeting that will change his life. Rejas is married and has to keep his feelings for Yolanda to himself. This takes him more and more effort, but it does give him the strength to continue his quest.
