The Corpse Had a Familiar Face plot

After two failed marriages, crime reporter Edna Buchanan of The Miami Herald spends the night with the police scanner, four cats and a dog. She always gets involved in the cases she investigates, but the disappearance of eighteen-year-old Jennifer Nicholson draws her particular attention and puts her in touch with the girl's father, who seems very concerned and devoted. The case evokes memories of her own childhood; her father ran away and her mother still won't talk about it. Her quest eventually leads her to the missing Jennifer and the confrontation with her father leads to a very dramatic outcome.
