Augustus "Little Pinks" is in love with nightclub singer Gloria. She, however, does not even know of its existence. He is a poor boy, while she only goes out with rich gentlemen. After an argument with her boyfriend, he throws her down the stairs. As a result, she can no longer walk. Pinks is the only one who still supports her.
