From April 1994, nearly 800,000 people died within 100 days during a purge by Hutu nationalists against their Tutsi compatriots in African Rwanda. This movie is based on true events. It tells the story of two brothers, politically divided by the conflict, and of the extraordinary courage and perseverance of the Rwandan people. Augustin Muganza and his best friend Xavier are Hutu soldiers and defy the instructions of their military superiors by saving Augustin's Tutsi wife and children from the horrific war. Augustin's brother Honoré, Hutu extremist, takes on the task but fails to get the family to safety. Ten years later, Augustin decides to leave the past behind and start a new life with his new love, Martine. Augustin is invited to attend the UN Tribunal in Arusha, where Honoré must answer for the role he played in this devastating civil war...
