Mme.

Film actually seems to be completely different from its predecessors. Where it featured a depressing raw look and a slow and dumb Stallone, it seems to have the same characters with other personalities. Moreover, the focus here is more on the sport instead of the drama.

Also not annoying that the focus is now more on sports, keep the pace nice. Stallone this time is up against someone who acts like a jellyfish and that gives you a bit of a villain feeling here. It's also nice that the villain is then led by Mr. T is played.

Film tries to throw in some drama in between, but actually it doesn't work at all. Unfortunately, the inspiration seemed to run out. Drama moments in between are mainly rushed, unnecessary or short-sighted. Not a single string comes close to being struck by it unfortunately.

Stallone has also given his character a twist and the slow and stupid that I liked in previous parts is gone here. Now he's really starting to look like Stallone in typical Stallone movies. Particularly distinctive look. Shire is also everything, now she dares to say something and actually I prefer to see her than such a strange appearance as in the previous 2 parts.

Combat isn't too impressive either. They are a bit shorter and less exciting. The build-up to those fights was really a lot better in previous parts. Opponent is a bit meaner, Stallone is a bit stronger. The real tension as with part 1 during the fight is unfortunately no longer present.

I didn't think the first two Rocky movies were brilliant, but this one really sinks in. The second film already leaned a bit towards melodrama with Adrian in a coma, but as far as I'm concerned it just stayed within limits. The death of manager and coach Mick here is quite over the top. Remarkably, just before that, Mick changed the character of Mr. T. called a "monkey", that wouldn't be possible now. And of course the match with Hulk Hogan makes no sense at all. Everyone knows that wrestlers like this act and then suddenly I have to believe that he is a credible opponent and that Rocky is not also acting during that fight?

Rocky here also misses the one-liners that made him entertaining in the previous film. Fortunately, that is somewhat compensated by Mr. T, whom I only knew from The A-Team as BA Baracus. Besides playing a boxer here, his role is almost identical, with a lot of vocal aggression and a lot of use of the words "you fool!" It makes things a bit lively.

But neither he nor the song "Eye of the Tiger", which is of course the ultimate boxing anthem, can't save this movie. At least the first Rocky movies still had a sense of authenticity, but this movie is really too much over the top. 0.5*.

Very correct; not a masterpiece of course, but a smooth binocular. Rocky faces a new challenger, the aggressive goofball Clubber Lang, played by 80s icon Mr.T. The hero has more psychological issues than usual, with his trainer Mickey dying and the loss to Lang completely killing him . demoralizes. Help comes from an unexpected source when his former opponent Appolo Creed takes him under his wing for training. Rocky III shows a more vulnerable Rocky and a lot of sporting spirit. Just a shame that Talia Shire's role is hardly more than the cheering wife on the sidelines.
