Rekopis Znaleziony w Saragossie plot
Alfons Van Worden, a young officer of the Walloon guard of the Spanish king, becomes entangled in all kinds of complications during the Napoleonic Wars. Every day when he wakes up under a gallows at an abandoned inn, he encounters new characters, who tell him stories that show parallels to his own experiences. Alfons is the target of Romantic surprises, such as lascivious Moorish twin sisters, vampires, a lord of the castle arguing with a mathematician or merry criminal gypsy kings.
