I saw this movie for school years ago. I didn't like it then, and I still don't like it. A film about Alzheimer's, aging. The children of the elderly and the grandchildren. In short, simply "life". If it had been even nicer people or if it hadn't been so terribly American on top of it all, the film might have been a little better. But now I still thought it was a boring movie to watch.

There isn't much special about the film itself. The film doesn't want to visually outshine or overwhelm. But that's what makes it so good by telling a genuine story. Fonda & Hepburn are very strong. Surprisingly, these two Hollywood legends had never even seen each other before. And then again the first (and only) film of Henry Fonda and Jane Fonda together. Especially both Fonda's and Hepburn act with craftsmanship, but also with so many emotions. Nice simple dialogues too. A wonderful movie!

A bit old-fashioned family drama, clearly based on a play, but worth it because of the excellent cast. Henry Fonda in particular, here in his last role, is very good as the grumpy, secretive father struggling with dementia. The dialogues are strong and often very funny and the characters are nice enough to make this a pleasant viewing experience. Too bad about the syrupy music and the very standard camera work.
