There was a time when you were either for The Beatles or the Rolling Stones, you couldn't do both. I may come from after that time, but I was always more for the Stones (as if they were sports clubs).

My Beatles aversion has long since passed, and I was very curious about this film about John Lennon. I never knew he had such a strange childhood.

There's a lot going on in the movie, a lot. I think it should have lasted a little longer. The story is especially fast-paced at the end. The acting was very good. I didn't know Aaron Johnson either, he looks a lot like Lennon, and I'll never see a movie with him again without John Lennon popping into my mind.

Strong film, of course with wonderful music, highly recommended. Certainly for Lennon / Beatles fans, but also for people who don't know Lennon well yet. (They exist! Yesterday in the cinema two girls in their early 20s asked me who John Lennon was)

This interchangeable video. Probably more fun for the fans, but as Beatles 'seemed' nothing special. It's more of a family drama about a boy who eventually forms a band. Well, I suspect that there are several films with about the same subject. If someone had told me it was Mick Jagger I would have believed it.

Furthermore, a nice atmosphere of England in the 60s, acting is certainly not wrong. But yeah, nothing spectacular seen.

2*

Nice film about the teenage years of John Lennon, growing up in Liverpool with his aunt. Lead actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson doesn't look anything like Lennon at all, but oddly enough, this isn't disturbing. The essence of him is present, as well as the right feeling. Lennon's future as a member of The Beatles is poorly covered, the film is more concerned with his emotions and the events of his teenage life, yet Nowhere Boy largely manages to hit the mark.
