"Rebel. Genius. Liberator."
In the year 1505, during a violent storm, the young Martin Luther makes the promise that he will enter the monastery. Torn by a sense of his own sinfulness and fear of a punishing God, Luther is soon sent on a pilgrimage to Rome by his confessor. There he comes into contact with the lively trade in relics and indulgences of the Roman Catholic Church. Back in Wittenberg, Luther is appointed a doctor and begins to lecture. During this period he wrote his 95 theses against indulgences. This puts him in serious conflict with the Roman Catholic Church. The Pope does everything in his power to get Luther to recant his teachings. Martin Luther, however, wants to stick to the Bible.
