Nice, 1976. Renée Le Roux is at the helm of one of the most successful casinos on the French Riviera, a family business in which daughter Agnès also has shares. Agnès, just back in France after a failed marriage, would like to cash in on her shares, but Renée doesn't want to hear about it. In the battle against Fratoni, the rogue owner of a competing casino, and a number of critical shareholders, Renée needs her daughter by her side. But then Agnès falls in love with the shrewd Maurice Agnelet, Renée's former advisor. Under his influence, Agnès rebels against her mother, a decision whose far-reaching consequences shock the entire country.
