Kjærlighetens Kjøtere plot
The poet Larsen heads to the Arctic to join Randbaek and Holm, two seasoned trappers who have lived in this inhospitable area for years. He arrives like a tourist and behaves like one, which irritates the two hunters. Randbaek, in particular, harbors a deep hatred for Larsen from the very first moment. Tensions are running high in the wooden hut, the only shelter from the cold of the Arctic.

Strong film with an impressive setting and excellent acting.
The duel could have been a bit more grim, because it felt a bit forced, especially in the Christmas scene. The last half hour makes up for a lot, though.

Zero Kelvin, or 'Below Zero'. This applies to the settlement of two trappers in a kind of polar station in Greenland, as well as to the relationships between the two trappers and a Norwegian poet who comes there to do odd jobs. The film does not make clear why exactly. He leaves for Greenland and leaves his girlfriend behind in bewilderment. The largest part of the film consists of a kind of, almost violent, psychological power game between the three men, who are dependent on each other in these harsh circumstances.
I found that exciting. Also how the poet slowly gains the upper hand. You can see from the beginning that this power game will not end well. The shots of the polar landscape are breathtaking. I was not bothered by that so-called 'animal suffering'. I never really understand the reactions of those receptive souls. This is about fur hunters and they kill animals for their fur and meat. To stay alive. What's wrong with that? And what do we do with our cows, pigs and poultry?
