Jian Dang Wei Ye plot
The film is set in the period between 1917, on the eve of the October Revolution in Russia until the establishment of the Communist Party of China in 1921. During the early 20th century, China was marked by political discord and a handful of individuals, including Mao Zedong, Li Dazhao and Zhou Enlai. After World War I, when the Allies gave Qingdao and Jiaozhou Bay to Japan, turmoil arose among the Chinese youth. This leads to the May 4th Movement in March 1920. Grigori Voitinsky comes to China in an attempt to spread communism to the Far East. On July 22, 1921, thirteen representatives from all over China met in a women's dormitory in Shanghai, marking the beginning of the Communist Party.
