This is not suitable for an evening lounging with friends. This is not safe to watch with young viewers and not desirable to watch only if you are a sensitive person.

Who should you watch it with, and especially when? ...The answer is that you better not look.

And the crazy thing is, that's no joke. You shouldn't watch this movie.

If you ask me, the idea is to experience and experience the film, more than to understand it. And then you go from one surprise to the next, travel through deep valleys and fly through euphoric heights and get stunned when it's all over. The aim of the film (like life itself) is the journey. There is no pedantic tone or feigned subtext in this violent film. It's not about what you see, but how you see it. And especially when you see it.

A Masterpiece by Gaspar Noë.

Irreversible

The first fifteen minutes was quite irritating, among other things because of the spinning camera. Once we're through that, you'll learn why Marcus is so mad at one Tapeworm. The rape scene and fire extinguisher scene were brutally poignant. We go further and further back in time and here the film becomes less interesting. Towards the end we get to see that she is pregnant, which of course makes it even more tragic.

3 stars.

A movie I've wanted to see for a long time. I liked it, but slightly disappointed. A film that is different from what we normally get. It is creatively packaged with some gross moments. Although the rape went on a bit too long for me which makes it feel weird to keep watching it.

Good acting, spicy story, nice that the film is played backwards and you come to several discoveries. This only gives you that the last half is a bit less catchy and it gets a bit boring. If it was the other way around, you work towards the climax, but this was the other way around.

What bothered me was the first part of the film with the rotating camera, it really drove me crazy! How can you come up with something like that. It was so annoying that I didn't even want to look any further. The last bit with the bright flashes was pretty snide too. I thought something else was coming, but it was already over.

Which made me wonder if Alex survived the situation or not. And I was curious about what happened after the confrontation at the beginning, but maybe also good that it wasn't explained further so you can think about it for yourself.

A film that you should see, but not worth repeating. It stays with me once. Would never put it up again for fun or interest. The last part is too boring for that and the first part too coarse and irritating because of camera work.
