Infamous plot

"There's more to the story than you know"

Together with his childhood friend and writer Harper Lee (Sandra Bullock), the young writer Truman Capote (Toby Jones) tries to uncover the facts of the 1959 murders of four members of a wealthy family in Kansas. At first it seems like a harmless investigation. But it soon takes an unexpected turn: an intense and complicated relationship develops between the writer and the two convicted murderers, Dick Hickock and, in particular, Perry Smith (Daniel Craig). The duo is currently on death row awaiting their death penalty. All this provides him with the inspiration for his book 'In Cold Blood'.

Good film about writer Truman Capote and the creation of his book 'In Cold Blood'. Of course a comparison with the other film 'Capote' is inevitable. Both films deal with the same event. Infamous is a bit lighter in tone and visually certainly a lot more colorful. The so-called interview pieces in between were unnecessary in my opinion. A cast with quite a few well-known names, in which Toby Jones plays an excellent role, but just can't match Philip Seymour Hoffman. And that ultimately makes Capote just a bit better than Infamous (although the latter is a bit more accessible).

I had this one lying around for a while and finally looked at it. I must say I am pleasantly surprised. I didn't know the man Capote at all, but what a striking figure. He really brightened up the film. It is certainly not a boring affair. It had a light hearted tone for most of the film. Towards the end this changed and they went more dramatic.

I prefer the genre to feature film/drama rather than drama/crime.

The cast was also on a roll. Strong roles for Toby Jones, Sandra Bullock and Daniel Craig. Gwyneth Paltrow also had a small role as a singer.

A good film that I found worth watching, I certainly have not complained.
