What is the point the creator wants to make?

II read it as “good people will solve it, just do what you think”.

I ignored Holy Rosita at the cinema. The trailer looked mediocre, a Flemish film that is a dime a dozen with a lot of false sentiment and neither a mussel nor a fish story, genre Aller/Retour ( Movie, 2023). None of this. I was grossly mistaken. Still one of the better Belgian films of the past year.

A film that also addresses a number of difficult themes and does so with full attention. Not with a moralizing finger, but with a beautiful story of a woman with a mild mental disability who wants a child. The concerns of those close to us are justified. The desire to have children - the manner in which can be discussed - seems genuine. The impact of all this seems difficult to estimate. Difficult themes such as abortion are also discussed.

But it never gets tough. This is also due to the disarmed acting of Daphne Agten. Great work, just like the rest of the crew, where for me Mieke De Groote was the only actress I really knew.

I already had in the back of my mind that this film might not be something for me, because of the theme of wanting children and the main character. But I wanted to give this Flemish drama a chance, on the one hand I try to give films from my own country a chance anyway, furthermore I heard a lot of good things about this film and earlier drama films/series with, among other things, the theme of parents-child, have surprised me several times.

But unfortunately the latter did not apply to this film, on the contrary, what was in the back of my mind only became much worse in terms of viewing experience and I quickly realized that this really would not be for me. Apart from the story that did not interest me one bit, I had a serious problem with the main character Rosita, where my 'obesity phobia' was seriously put to the test and I mainly had a feeling of disgust and my stomach turned a few times and the other characters made the irritation complete, with that annoying child at the top and that is how I got my number 1 and 2 of things that I have a huge aversion to.

And yep, I should have done it in 2 times already, but I should have left it halfway instead of starting again the next day, I just felt more disgust and annoyance and literally nothing mini positive anywhere or anything.

The last straw was when she was lying on the bed, heavily pregnant and naked, and I had to gag. I really saved myself the rest.

So for me the lowest score is clearly appropriate here.
