Victor is a cook who struggles with his shyness and obesity. He still lives at home with his mother Dolly and also works in her roadhouse. Then the beautiful, young Callie comes to work as a waitress, mainly due to an argument between Dolly and the older waitress Delores. Victor and Callie click, but she already has a boyfriend, Jeff, who regularly picks her up after work. Thanks to Callie's attention, Victor begins to dream of a different, better life. Then Dolly gets sick...
